• Millersville University Police Department
Most recent agencies to be granted Premier Status:
• Franconia Township • Warren City
• Penbrook Borough
If you are a PCPA member, the accreditation program is your program. Are you part of the program? If so,
congratulations, you and your officers are part of the 70% of PA Law Enforcement employed by a PLEAC
accredited agency. If not, why not? You and your officers are part of the 30% of PA Law Enforcement
employed by a non-accredited agency.
As the accreditation program starts its 25th year, here are the current statistics:
• Number of agencies accredited since program inception: 217
• Number of agencies currently granted PLEAC accredited status: 192
• Number of agencies who have been accredited for over 15 years and been granted PLEAC Premier Status: 43.
• Number of agencies enrolled in the program and actively working toward accredited status: 52.
The names of the Premier, Accredited and Enrolled agencies are posted on the PA Chiefs website under the
Accreditation tab along with information about the program.
On average, one agency per year loses their accredited status for various reasons. The
accreditation award is not an award for life. It takes work to earn it and just as much
work to maintain it.
Those who truly want to become accredited work hard and achieve it. Those who say they
want to be accredited find excuses why they are not. If your agency is not accredited,
reach out to your neighboring Chiefs who are or contact the PCPA Accreditation Program
Coordinator who will work with you toward becoming part of the 70%.
