Accreditation Year in Review
As more agencies recognize the value and benefits of earning Pennsylvania Accreditation, PCPA Accreditation staff
were very busy over the past year.
The following statistics are for calendar year 2023:
• Newly Accredited Agencies. ................................. 19
• Re-Assessed Agencies. ........................................ 49
• Total Assessments Conducted. ........................... 68
• Newly Enrolled Agencies...................................... 15
• Total Enrolled Agencies........................................ 58
• Accredited Agencies. .......................................... 172
If your agency is not accredited or enrolled, what are you
waiting for?
I ask you to:
• Talk to your brother/sister Chiefs who are accredited
• Talk to your PLEAC Commissioner representing your
region
• Talk to your insurance carrier who covers your liability/
risk insurance
• Talk to your municipal solicitor and/or labor attorney
• Look at the information on the PCPA website under
accreditation
• Give me a call at PCPA Headquarters, Extension 103
I am now receiving calls from both elected officials
and citizens asking: “Why isn’t my Police Department
Accredited?”
I can’t answer that question any other way other than: “I
have heard many excuses, but yet to hear a valid reason,
Contact your Police Chief and ask them and if they
convince you that your police department should not be
an accredited agency, please call me back.”
