The Future of Data Sharing
in Law Enforcement
As we look ahead, integrating artificial
intelligence and machine learning
promises to unlock even more
significant potential in data analysis,
driving efficiencies and insights that
were once beyond reach. Expanding
data-sharing networks to include
non-traditional partners, such as
private tech firms and community
organizations, could further augment
law enforcement capabilities, creating
a more collaborative approach to
public safety.
The power of data sharing in modern
law enforcement is undeniable.
By embracing and advocating for
enhanced data-sharing practices,
law enforcement agencies can
improve operational effectiveness,
foster community trust, and, most
importantly, ensure public safety.
The journey ahead may be fraught
with challenges, but the collective
commitment to overcoming these
obstacles will undoubtedly pave the
way for a safer tomorrow.

THE POWER OF DATA SHARING IN MODERN LAW ENFORCEMENT
www.in-synchrms.com | 1-800-243-6540 | info@in-synch.com
This need for "collaborative information" carries on as part of our In-Synch RMS software suite. In-Synch Systems
provides native (and free) data-sharing capabilities through our Master Index modules. Here are a couple of recent
data-sharing "success stories" provided by our agencies:
Suspicious Vehicle/Persons
Conneaut Lake Regional Police Department (Crawford
County, PA)
The Conneaut Lake Regional Police Department was
dispatched to North Shenango Twp., Crawford County,
for a suspicious white Jeep Liberty occupied by two
persons. One of which was exiting the Jeep and running
between houses. Upon the officer's arrival, the vehicle
was gone, but through questioning of nearby residents,
it was learned one of them had a surveillance camera
pointed at the roadway. The responding officer obtained
a partial plate, and after searching the department's In-
Synch RMS database, no matching plates were observed.
Officers then conducted a data-sharing master vehicle
check of the partial plate, where they located the entire
registration and identified the registered owner to conduct
a further investigation.
Indecent Assault
Swatara Township Police Department (Dauphin County, PA)
Officers from Swatara Township Police Department were
dispatched to a shopping center for an indecent assault
incident. A male juvenile reported that a white pickup
truck, driven by a white male in his 20s, pulled up next
to him while he was walking through the parking lot and
asked him if he wanted to get in the vehicle and perform a
sexual act. The victim declined the advance and continued
walking through the parking lot as the suspect followed
him briefly before fleeing the area.
A PennDOT check of the provided Pennsylvania
registration returned it as a dead tag, last registered to
a Dodge. Video surveillance identified the pickup as a
Nissan Titan with dark rims.
Swatara Detectives were assigned this case and utilized
the In-Synch RMS vehicle data sharing feature to begin
their investigation. Using only the first three letters of
the registration and vehicle make and model, detectives
found a Nissan Titan involved in a similar complaint in
Lower Paxton Township. During this information search,
detectives also found that the victim had transposed the
first two numbers of the registration.
With the vehicle and owner identified, Swatara detectives
continued the use of RMS data sharing and identified a
27-year-old white male who had documented domestic
incidents with the vehicle owner.
The information obtained through RMS data sharing
assisted the detectives in identifying suspects and
furthering this investigation. This case ultimately concluded
with the charging of the 27-year-old white male with:
