However, in the case of transitive verbs, the semantic distinction does not depend on the particles. This is because 〜を cannot be used twice in a single sentence, and even the non- subject who is coerced must select 〜に. So, the following sentences are ambiguous between the volitional ‘let’ interpretation and the non-volitional ‘force’ interpretation.
