Renata has been working on a diploma in construction workplace health and safety. This is a massive asset to the GT Group. Every project requires a SSSP written and submitted before work can start. Renata writes all of these and it is signed off by the local owner. All team mem- bers to sign onto it before starting work on that site. Simple yet effective system.
Prevention by understanding, recording information given, setting expectations, investigating incidents, are the sections of H&S that we see to be the important points. The back of house H&S is undertaken by GT NZ for you. The local owner is always 100% responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy workplace for all employees and the public.
One area we haven’t spent a lot of time yet is in the mental health arena. There goes a topic for 2022. The last few years with the global pandemic has added to what is for some a stressful life. There are a few groups like Mates in construction who specialise in the mental health of construction workers. They might be a group to get involved with. I mention this because we are always striving to be the best we can. There will always be areas to improve, and I want you to know that we will always be seeking our areas we can grow and be better.
