What is the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit?
The passage of the Tax Reform Act of 1986 by the Reagan administration established the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, (LIHTC), to provide market incentives to developers to acquire and develop or rehabilitate affordable rental housing. Over the past three decades this program has helped construct and rehabilitate the nation’s affordable housing stock.
