Bene ts of ETC
Enhanced Thermal Conduction (ETC) is an ex-situ thermal remediation process that heats stationary contaminated soil, vapori- zesthecontaminants, anddestroystheo -gases. Thisdesignallowsformuchloweroperatingcoststhroughhigherthermale ciency, comparedtootherthermaltechnologies, which“tumble”thesoil. Someofthekeybene tsoftheETCtechnologyinclude:
• ETC systems are scalable, robust, simple, and easy to mobilize & operate
• All-weather capable
• Can process virtually any soil type (from sand & gravel to heavy clays)
• No requirement to mechanically pre-process or screen soil that will be treated
• Does not produce waste byproducts or reject material
• Able to treat high moisture content soils
• Cost e ective thermal treatment
• Ideal for remote sites or locations with challenging access issues yet just as functional in urban settings
Post treatment analytical results of <100 ppm TPH are typical for the ETC process with sample data often indicating levels below de- tection limits. This technology allows for guaranteed cleanup levels and predictable timetables for on-site treatment. A broad range of petroleum hydrocarbon impacts including diesel range organics, crude oil, coal tars, heavy hydrocarbons and PAH’s, have been succes- sfully treated with this technology.
This design has been deployed around the world to e ectively remediate hundreds of thousands of tons of hydrocarbon and organic contaminant impacted soils since the mid 1990’s and many of these projects have been remote in nature. To date, projects have been successfully completed for many organizations including Progress Energy, Chevron Corporation, U.S. Navy, U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, Department of Corrections, NOAA, and Thiess Services.
From the isolated Islands of Alaska to the outback of Australia, Enhanced Thermal Conduction is utilized by clients looking for a de nitive soil remediation solution.
