EIC are now on the airwaves!
To coincide with Mental Health Month in May, the EIC launched their podcast channel, handily called the Electrical Industries Charity Podcast.
Every podcast will discuss prevalent issues within our sector from mental health to stress management to alcohol use and much more. In our first podcast, Take 10 Together, Melaina from the EIC support team, Helen from the EIC fundraising team and Jenny Whitehead, an experienced therapist, spoke of the importance of having meaningful conversations.
As lockdown restrictions have eased and more of us are returning to our normal patterns of work, it is more important than ever to look out for one another and take the time to have conversations about how we’re really feeling. In this first podcast, Jenny and Melaina share some great tips for having what can be difficult conversations with our colleagues, friends and family about our mental health.
The Electrical Industries Charity Podcast will be making a return to the airwaves soon, and we would love to know what you would like to hear our team speak about. If you have any podcast suggestions, please send them to support@electricalcharity.org
You can listen to the Electrical Industries Charity Podcast here.

Some of Jenny and Melaina’s top tips:
1) Find somewhere quiet, whether that’s when walking to get a coffee, at the printers or in a private room.
2) Be empathetic and take them seriously.
3) Try to avoid phrases like ‘cheer up’ or ‘get a grip’.
4) Keep the chat positive.
5) Follow up. These conversations aren’t once in a lifetime; they need to be had once a week or bi-weekly.
