Welcome to Issue 23 of Christians United for Israel UK’s Torch
magazine.
This year we are celebrating
the 75th anniversary of Israel’s independence. Israel’s rebirth as a nation can be considered one of the most incredible miracles of the last century, but just as miraculous is Israel’s survival and determination over the past 75 years. In fact, the survival of the Jewish people as a culture, still anchored to the same Holy Scriptures, the same language, the same traditions, and the same land for nearly 4,000 years might be one of the greatest miracles of all time.
Our love for Israel and the
Jewish people is rooted in the understanding of God’s love for His people. It is firmly established in the Word of God. As believers in Christ, we owe a debt of gratitude to the Jewish people who have given us the Word of God, the prophets, the first family of Christianity, and ultimately our Redeemer. Additionally, we have a biblical mandate to love and bless the Jewish people.
This deep connection compels us to comprehend what the re- establishment of the nation of Israel means to us as Christians.
In this issue of Torch, we will explore what took place on that historic occasion in 1948 and how Israel had an immediate fight for
its survival. The invasion by Arab nations began just one day after Israel’s independence was declared. We hope this recounting of Israel’s historic victory will inspire you as
we look upon Israel’s current fight in defence of its existence. This fight is not just militarily, but it is a battle for truth. This is why our article about one of Israel’s recent conflicts with Palestinian Islamic Jihad presents the fact that ‘Israel is good; Palestinian terrorism is evil’. It seems such a simple truth, but we explain the moral differences between Israel’s actions and that of its enemies. We hope you find the articles in this issue inspiring and an encouragement to you in your stand with Israel.
In this 75th anniversary year, we are determined to demonstrate to Israel and the Jewish people that they have Christian friends here in the United Kingdom who are prepared
to stand up and rally to Israel’s cause. That is why I would especially like
to thank you for your support for Christians United for Israel UK and our efforts to declare the truth. We hope that after reading this issue, you will be prepared to share these truths with others.
