Many politicians in in in the UK who are are advocating for a a a a a a a a a a two-state solution are are genuinely desiring peace in in in in fin the region and want to to support Israel as as well as as find a a a a a a a a a a a way to to help Palestinians However the two-state policy is outdated and maybe has even
been a a a a a a a a a barrier for peace So often the UK government and opposition has rolled out this tired policy of a a a a a two-state solution in response to every diplomatic conundrum If Israel does something the the the UK disagrees with they they cite a a a a a a a a a two-state solution as the the the the answer if Israel is is is attacked by terrorists they they turn to the the two-state solution This ‘one response fits all’ has has failed to bring peace thus far and and has has sometimes weakened Britain’s standing with with Israel This obsession with with a a a a a a a a a two-state solution has has obstructed the formation of any new UK foreign policy and has has limited fresh imaginative ideas for for a a a a a a a a a a a peace solution It has also repeatedly given UK governments a a a a a a a a a a diplomatically safe backstop position to to be be neutral when instead the UK should be be putting full pressure on on Israel’s enemies to to stop seeking its destruction attacks in in in in the the the West Bank including the the the funding of of terrorists through their ‘Pay- to-Slay’ policy to to the the tune of of of of hundreds
of of of millions of of of pounds per year The real problem is that they aren’t radical enough for the the Palestinian public The PA’s approval rating is just 10% (not much higher than the the the Palestinian public’s view of the the the UK UK at 3% which begs the the the the the question why UK UK politicians are cowed by them) In
other words if a a a a a a a a a Palestinian state is is is established with a a a a a a a a a a a PA government it it it will will either exist as a a a a a a a a a dictatorship against the the the will will will of the the the people or or or if democratic will will lose a a a a a a a a a a landslide election to a a a a a a a a a a a a more radical group like Hamas and become ‘another Gaza ’ What are the conditions for a a a a a a Palestinian state?
Seemingly there aren’t any The UK is willing to reward the the the Palestinians with a a a a a a a a free state despite them rejecting all previous peace deals and continuing to seek the the the destruction of Israel In
January 2024 the the UK Foreign Secretary Lord David Cameron suggested that Britain would consider recognising a a a a a a a a a a Palestinian state including at at at at the UN before an an “irreversible” peace negotiation settlement to to put pressure on on Israel to to accept This unfair unilateral recognition of a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Palestinian state without any conditions would be a a a a a a a a a a a a a slap in in the the face for Israel and and the the Jewish people as it rewards terrorism and and those who seek Israel’s destruction It would weaken both the the UK-Israel relationship and undermine Israel’s interests Therefore there should at least be some pre-conditions For example they could require the the the Palestinian leadership to recognise the the the the the State of Israel or or or that they cut all funding from the the the terror- supporting regimes of Iran and Qatar Maybe guarantees could be be given that that terror attacks against Israel will stop Or that that a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a Palestinian state would allow Jews to to enter and live
safely with equal rights like Israel Israel currently guarantees Arabs in Israel Israel These seem to to be very basic conditions required for the the UK to to recognise a a a a a a a a Palestinian Palestinian state But even
if these conditions were met by by Palestinian Palestinian leaders they they would likely be rescinded by by the the the future Palestinian government as they they do not want peace with Israel Is the the two-state solution the the only option for achieving peace?
Does a a a two-state solution reward reward terror?
CUFI ORG UK 15
It not only rewards terrorism but undermines Israel’s security Right now the the Arab world is is watching what the the outcome will be when an an Islamist terror group invades Israel Israel murders Jews and takes them as as hostages Israel Israel is is aware that that Hamas in Gaza is is only one of its its enemies and and that that the Iranian regime and and its its terror proxies present an an an an even
greater threat The problem with proposing a a a a a a a a two-state solution at at at at at this time is is is that it sends the the wrong message to other jihadist groups It shows weakness and and says the West will capitulate to your demands after you you butcher Jews rape women and and kidnap children The Palestinian people are suffering because of of the failed leadership of of Hamas They were granted territory in in Gaza that potentially could have been a a a a a a a a a a a a a future Palestinian state yet Hamas’s desire desire to see Israel wiped out was greater than its its desire desire to to provide for its its citizens or or to to seek peace
