Greetings, Friends and Fans of Halloween Art!
We welcome you to our premiere issue! It is thrilling for us to be able to make this magazine a dream come true for those of you who, like us, tend to eat, breathe and live for this most enchanting holiday.
There are many Halloween folk artists who put their hearts and souls into the works they create; fanciful, ornate and breathtaking designs of such charming imagination that elicit smiles to all who happen upon them. These original creations are highly sought after among collectors, with an ever-expanding amount of Halloween art shows taking place around the country to fulfill this desire. We’ll be visiting and profiling as many of these wondrous shows as we can in each issue.
Whether you collect original, one of a kind (OOAK) creations or reproductions thereof, you know the excitement that comes with adding another item to your personal collection. Halloween is not just a lifestyle, it’s an addiction!
On that note, we’re honored to present our very first Spotlight Profile about a truly special lady: LeeAnn Kress of Charmed Confections. Most of you are already familiar with the sweetly magical world that LeeAnn brings to life, from her incredible ‘Sweet & Sour’ ornaments to her stunning array of Bethany Lowe reproductions. We’ve been a fan of hers for a long time now and can’t wait for you to see what she’s been conjuring up for us this year.
If anyone can create a true Halloween wonderland, it’s Vance Nichols, owner of Nashville’s pop-up extravaganza, Fezziwig’s Holiday Shoppe. Here, you’ll find many unique items, including a plethora of gorgeous Bethany Lowe collectibles and more.
Next, please make the acquaintance of magical ceramic artist, Zan Asha ... scrumptious Goth goodies from the amazing Irma Gerd ... delightful modern vintage offerings from Jorge de Rojas... a whirl inside the wonderland of live art shows such as Bewitching Peddlers of Halloween, and All Hallows Art Fest... explore the creative realm of Halloween artists with the fun and informative Halloween Art & Travel Podcast, with Kristen J Stafford... dive into the cool and creepy retro- inspired world of Retro-A-Go-Go’s Halloween collectibles décor madness ... a sweet remembrance of Halloween Tree author Ray Bradbury by his dear friend, Dave Conover... and some true ghost story experiences from our readers, along with an incredible ghost tale about ‘The Glowin’ Bones of Craggie Hope’ from Tennessee’s favorite Celtic- eclectic band, The Secret Commonwealth. All this, and so much more here in these very pages!
Sadly, COVID-19 has put a crimp on a lot of Halloween festivities this year, but fear not – many of the shows including Bewitching Peddlers and All Hallow’s will be having virtual shows online. You can find information including web links within each event’s pages here in the magazine, which will whisk you off to a virtual spree at these shows.
We’d love to hear from you! Let us know what you want to see in future issues, or share some autumn goodness of your own by emailing us at AB_magazine@yahoo.com
‘Til next time ... Happy Halloween!
