“I said, ‘I’m not going to do this, this
is too much,’” Bunville expressed. “But I had some really good officers. They talked to me about the first time being out on the streets, and that a lot of offi- cers go through that in their heads. You train in the academy and now you have to go and face this situation.”
So in true Bunville fashion, not only did she give it a try — she excelled.
She stayed in the 6th District for the next four years and finished her master’s degree. She went on to earn a doctorate in education from Argosy University.
In 2005, she was on the summer bike unit and then moved to the 2nd District. By late 2006, she was in the Information Services Division. Bunville moved up the ranks as commander secretary and then became part of the telephone unit for two years.
She continued to move around, go- ing back to the 2nd District in 2010 for the next three years. In 2013, she went to the Inspection Division. And that’s when she pursued her second master’s degree, in forensic psychology, from the Chicago School of Professional Psychol- ogy.

Bunville is an officer, forensic psychologist and educator who applied to the Department on a whim, not believing that she would pass the physical exam.
