National Night Out brings the community together
Mother Nature tried to throw a wrench into the mix for this year’s National Night Out (NNO) festivities, but law en- forcement’s annual community summer party went on as scheduled in many Chicago Police Districts.
Now in its 38th year, National Night Out long ago established itself as a program designed to engage local Police Of- ficers and residents to build and grow relationships. Millions of people attend events across the U.S. that go far beyond meet-and-greets and become special neighborhood moments.
Here’s a look at some of the fun during National Night Out 2018. d
12th District
Officers in the 12th District took over the United Center parking lot to host a car show as part of its NNO festivities, which also in- cluded a dunk tank that left a few partici- pants all wet in the name of fun.
17th District
Youngsters enjoyed a bounce house, train rides and sweet treats — some dished out by Offifficers — during NNO in the 17th. Attendees also got to check out bomb squad gear.
