On June 6, 2017, at the location of Central Avenue and George Street, while at a red light, a male offender emerged from the moonroof of an lnfiniti and began to shoot a hand- gun approximately seven to eight times in the officers’ di- rection. The officers pursued the offending vehicle while the passenger continued firing in their direction. The chase abruptly ended in the alley of 2900 N. New England when the passenger leaned out the window with the weapon pointed in the officers’ direction. The officers, fearing for their lives,
fired their guns, striking the offenders. Both offenders were transported to the hospital, and the driver was charged with one count of UUW by a felon and aggravated fleeing. The passenger was charged with one count of aggravated UUW/ no FOID, four counts of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault/discharge firearm and two counts of ag- gravated assault/peace officer/weapon.
It is with great appreciation that FOP Chicago Lodge 7 presents these officers with the Award of Valor.

On March 6, 2021, officers assigned to the Area South Com- munity Safety Team observed a vehicle with a cracked wind- shield. The officers curbed the vehicle and requested a driver’s license and insurance from the driver. While the driver fumbled through his vehicle for a license and insurance that he knew he did not have, the officers observed spent shell casings in the center console of the vehicle.
The officers requested an FOID card and CCL, and the driver
directed them to his passenger, stating, “No, but the guy next to me does.” The officers requested that the driver exit the vehicle, and a loaded Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun was located inside the door panel. The passenger was asked to exit the vehi- cle, and a loaded Glock 19 was recovered from his door panel. The officers handcuffed the offenders and requested ID. The officers were directed to a jacket, and a wallet and a loaded Ruger LCP 380 were recovered from inside the jacket. The officers located a loaded Ruger 9 mm handgun and a Draco Nak9 9x19 mm, along with a cache of ammo and extended magazines, inside the vehi- cle. The driver was charged with one count of UUW; the passen- ger, who claimed to have a CCL from Michigan, was charged with four counts of UUW.
It is with great appreciation that FOP Chicago Lodge 7 pres- ents these officers with the Distinguished Service Award.
