  Honoring a Hero
your heart. But, in this community with so many CPD officers, it hits hard.”
That’s why the money, food and toy donations rolled in for Jimenez’s family. Money continued to fill a large clear box near the entrance to Firewater nearly a week after Jimenez lost his life and a community lost one of its own.
“We’re a really big police and fire community,” McIntyre said of Edison Park. “This could have been any of our family mem- bers or neighbors. This is someone from our ward. We needed to step up. It was a very emotional night.”
Firefighters arrived with their trucks for a memorial of their own, donating $500 on behalf of Ignite the Spirit. Jimenez’s friends from the police academy, his colleagues and local busi- ness members all showed up to donate and support one of their own.
“People kept coming and coming,” McIntyre said. “It’s going to help out his family a lot.”
Added Belz, “It’s amazing how busy it was. It’s nice that so many people came out. I was lucky to know him.”
  Rest in Peace, Officer Jimenez
