Gold Star Regatta to support families of fallen officers
On Saturday, July 7, the Chicago Police Sailing Association presents the 2nd Annual Gold Star Regatta hosted by the Jack- son Park Yacht Club of Chicago. The Gold Star Regatta is a race for sailboats to compete on a distance course along Chicago’s Lake Michigan shoreline. This year, a Poker Run course has been added for power boaters. Power boats will pick up cards in predetermined Chicago harbors until their hands are complete.
The event will include a family-friendly postrace party with beverages, local food trucks, carnival games, pirate storytelling, a silent auction and much more. There will be an evening of live music during the Jackson Park Yacht Club’s annual Blues Festival.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the families of fallen Po- lice Officers and first responders through support of the contin- ued efforts of the 100 Club of Chicago and the Brotherhood of the Fallen. As a registered participant in the Gold Star Regatta, you can create your own fundraiser page allowing you to share your crew, upload photos and express your support. We hope you are motivated to save and share your Gold Star Regatta link with others for donations to support our surviving family mem- bers.
After crossing the finish line, sailors are encouraged to con-
tinue directly into JPYC harbor, where there is room for dock- ing or rafting if needed. Anyone anywhere can participate by donating through the fundraiser website www.crowdrise.com/ goldstarregatta. Just select the “donate” button on the site and make your desired donation. d
