Officers from the 8th, 9th and 12th Districts collect coats for the unsheltered
During the holiday season, everyone makes an extra effort to give. And 9th and 12th District members took the opportu- nity to partner with the Canaryville Veter- ans Riders Association to collect winter coats for unsheltered veterans. The re- sponse was nothing short of amazing.
“We had a great response to it,” 9th District Officer Jason Sollis said. “The box that we had here was overflowing. They had to come before the drive was over to collect the coats, and then we hit a second box.”
Sollis expressed his gratitude for being part of this amazing opportunity. Sur- rounded by members of the Canaryville Veterans Riders Association, who were seeking to help homeless veterans at Hope Manor II, Sollis found himself un- loading boxes and large bags of hundreds of winter coats collected from both the 9th and 12th districts.
And this was just one way that his de- partment helped spread holiday cheer this season. Their doors are always open to hold events like Toys for Tots with the USMC and raise donations for domestic

violence survivors.
“We enjoy being a space where people
can come in and interact with us and drop coats off,” Sollis reflected. “We enjoy be- ing able to be a safe location so if commu- nity members are looking to have some type of drive, we can partner with them.”
CPD continued its efforts in helping the unsheltered population as 8th District members visited Midway Airport on Dec. 19. In partnership with organizations like the Salvation Army and Triology, mem- bers enjoyed handing out items like win- ter coats and gloves to residents.
Many officers and members of the community donated winter coats and jackets in partnership with the Canaryville Veterans Riders Association.
