Chicago Police Officers connect in neighborhoods and support worthy causes around the city through sports. Here’s a spotlight on some of the fun and competitive games and teams that officers are using to stay active and represent the city in a positive way.
The CPD Finest
played host to first
responder base-
ball teams from
around the coun-
try — as well as a
team from Cana-
da — for the 2019
Windy City Police
and Fire World
Series in August.
Eleven teams bat-
tled it out on the field, while they bonded off the field at a White Sox game and other festivities. NYPD took home the title, while the Finest suffered an extra-inning quarterfinal loss to the team from the Dallas Fire Department.
5th District Unity Basketball
The action on the court heated up during the 5th District’s Unity Basketball game with the community in early August. In addition to hooping it up, officers used the event to connect with local youth through sports.
Knights play softball
Members of the Chicago Police & Fire Baseball Club Knights left their gloves behind for the day when they joined residents at Cragin Park on the North- west Side for a little 16-inch softball action as the city’s newest team wound down a busy summer of games and charitable work.
Windy City World Series
Bears Fun Fest
Just as they were when fans filed out of a disappointing Bears playoff loss in January, officers were on hand to make sure everything stayed calm and smooth in and around Sol- dier Field for the annual Chica- go Bears Family Fun Fest. A few officers even took on challeng- ers playing the popular Mad- den NFL 19 video game.
