ThirdVice President’s Report
Thanks for the tie bar
On Dec. 14, the department decided to distribute a first-issue item: a tie bar. While anything that is deemed first issue is provided at no cost to all active members, it makes one ask the question, “What are the priorities of the department?”
Since there are already numerous adaptations of the current uniform, most allowing our members to per- form their assignments less formally, why introduce a tie bar now? The money spent on this first-issue item surely could have been utilized toward the greater
good, such as additional training for our members, retiree healthcare or God forbid, the pension deficit. I can’t wait until the department decides to issue laces for our shoes and boots.

It is extremely important to have each of these tests done to help prevent any possible health complications.According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC), “Regular health exams and tests can help nd problems before they start. They also can help nd problems early, when your chances for treatment and cure are better. By getting the right health services, screenings, and treatments, you are taking steps that help your chances for living a longer, healthier life.” This physical will not replace physicals offered by your Insurance Companies, so feel free to partake in both.
