    COVER STORY

Shining Star
Nobody had to tell 3rd District Officer Jennifer Maddox that the kids in her neighborhood needed a guiding light. She saw it and took it upon herself to give them much-needed hope. Putting in a lot of her own time, and her own money, Maddox created the Future Ties program, an effort that exemplifies the best in community policing in the City. It was an effort that also made Maddox a national hero.
