Thank you to all who planned, executed and attended last month’s Police Suicide Aware- ness and Prevention Seminar in Oak Brook. More than 250 participants en-
joyed a free all-day presentation and even
a free lunch, thanks to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, Motorola Solu- tions, McDonald’s Corporation, and several
hardworking organizers. It is important that we continue to address (and pray for an end to) the terrible reality of police suicide.
St. Jude Police League stick- ers are available from your district/unit St. Jude League representative. A donation of $7 per sticker is requested. Buy some for your friends’ and family members’ cars! The funds raised benefit a host of worthy charities and make possible the ministry of St. Jude Chaplains, who lead prayer services at CPD family wakes. For more information
about obtaining your sticker, or if you don’t know who your rep is, please contact me.
I hope to see you at the annual St. Jude March. This year, it is scheduled for Sunday, May 6, with an 8 a.m. step-off at the usual spot near Gold Star Families Memorial and Park.
Mother’s Day is approaching on Sunday, May 13. Bring Mom to the police Mass that morning (noting the change in Mass time to 10 a.m.). It’s held at the usual location: Mercy Home for Boys and Girls at 1140 W. Jackson Blvd. More infor- mation about the police Mass is available on our website. If your mom is no longer with us, feel free to email or call me with her name, and we’ll remember her in our prayers for the deceased that day.

bed in her pajamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled and asked how his day went. He looked at her, bewil- dered, and asked, “What happened here today?”
She again smiled and answered, “You know every day when you come home from work and ask me what in the world did I do today?”
“Yes,” was his incredulous reply.

Recently on our Wednesday night rounds in the districts, Chaplain Bob Montelongo and I bumped into Officers David DeLeon and Jason Fong from 011. This dynamic duo is cer- tainly helping to make the west side a safer place for residents to enjoy. Keep up the great work, David and Jason!
While Easter was celebrated by Christians earlier this month, the Easter season continues for 50 days through Pen- tecost. So even though the decorations are down, the choco- late is eaten, and (hopefully!) all the hidden eggs are found, I still wish you a happy Easter season.
Stay safe and keep the faith.d

She answered, “Well, today I didn’t do it.”
On behalf of all your chaplains, may G-d bless you and keep you safe, today and always. Amen.
