Know what you can and can’t do on the street. Orders typically change when addressing situations that have never happened before.”
Chicago Police Officers cannot afford to pick up the policy manual only when studying for a promotion. Knowledge of general orders will remind them to review video evidence pri- or to giving statements, properly record witness interviews to keep accurate and complete notes to be able to present infor- mation in writing if asked and refrain from posting on social media. And leave the personal cell phone in the locker when you get to work.
