I promise to take care and hold everyone together just like you did. I promise to remember everything you taught me. I will always push myself, and everything will be for you. You’re my role model and the person I aspire to be.
Daddy, you’re one in a million, and there is no one else like you. I love you more than all the stars in the sky and all the flowers on earth.
You will always be my hero and my best friend. The team won’t be the same without you, coach. I will always be your little girl. This is not a goodbye, but rather a see you later.
Love, Becca

Becca went on to note how Lalo always pushed everybody beyond their limits because he knew they were capable of so much more. He lived by simple mantras, like “small things make the biggest impact,” “always work hard” and “always put others before yourself.”
Ganczewski saw all this pass her by when she was working the 2018 Chicago Marathon detail along with 005 Officer Anathena Smith. Now, Marmalade had become a bit of workout fanatic. In the summertime, it was not uncommon to see him running up and down 103rd Street or Kedzie Avenue with his shirt off, try- ing to get a little more tanned. And 7th District Officer Denisha Price shared that when working out with Lalo at Planet Fitness at 95th and Western, he would be running through his circuit of bench press, lat pulldowns and pull-ups, but he never hesitated to spot Price.
