Cars & Cops Car Show revs up for CPMF
The inaugural Cars & Cops Car Show to benefit the Chi- cago Police Memorial Foundation hit its mark on May 21, with nearly 250 vehicles on display and thousands of dol- lars raised for the Get Behind the Vest initiative.
Organizers had been talking about the idea of a car show for a couple of years, but they got a huge boost from Collectors’ Car Garage Owner Burt Richmond, who liked the idea so much that he offered up his location on the city’s North Side as the host site at no cost, according to Lt. Tony Baio.
The first-year goal was to make the event successful enough to do it again next year, Baio said. With a diverse array of 240 cars across 10 categories and plenty of foot traffic throughout the day, Baio believes the event’s future looks bright.
“Collector’s Car Garage offered our three-acre parking lot to produce the inaugural Cars & Cops Car Show be- cause we felt it was an important fundraising event to be able to purchase more bulletproof vests to protect those who protect us,” said Richmond. “It was a very success- ful event that encourages us to repeat the Cars & Cops Car Show in May 2018.” d
