 Tributes in Springfield resonate with Department officers

the Chicago Police Department on the first Thursday in May. On yet another fittingly gray and dreary Illinois Police Offi- cers Memorial Day in Springfield, Commander Paul Bauer and Officers Samuel Jimenez, Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmole- jo were added to the monument near the Illinois State Capitol commemorating the lives of police officers who died in the line of duty. Etched into the statue’s marble, the four names took their eternal place among the hundreds of others who were tak-
en too soon.
Several months have now passed since the unspeakably trag-
ic year of 2018 concluded. The city of Chicago came together and mourned its heroes four times last year, but even as that
