Lindsey LaPointe has now been appointed to fill the House seat vacated by Rob Martwick when he moved to the Senate. LaPointe has been an activist for criminal justice reform for the last several years.
The Legislature is out of session for the summer. Your state rep- resentatives and senators are back in their districts, meeting with constituents.
Governor Pritzker is reviewing legislation and signing bills. He will be finished working through the bills that the Legislature sent him by Labor Day.
By then, Legislators will be passing petitions for re-election!

It’s been a hot summer for state seats
The far Northwest Side of Chicago and into the near suburbs has a new senator and two new state representatives.
When Senator John Mulroe left the Senate to be- come a judge, Democrat State Representative Rob Martwick was appointed to the Senate. It has been a big summer for the newly appointed senator, as he and his wife welcomed their second son, who was born a few days after Rob was elevated to the Senate. Congratulations to the new senator and his growing family!
In addition, longtime Republican State Representative Mike McAuliffe has retired from the House. Mike served for 23 years — as did his father, Roger, before him. After nearly half a century of McAuliffes serving in the House, Edison Park and the surrounding areas have a new state representative.
Rosemont Mayor Bradley Stephens was appointed to succeed McAuliffe. Stephens has been mayor of Rosemont since 2007 and is only the second mayor the village has had. Before that, Stephens’
