Elgie Sims and the chair of the Labor Committee will be Tom Cullerton. On key House committees, Marcus Evans will serve as chair of the Labor and Commerce Committee, Justin Slaugh- ter will chair the Criminal Law Committee and Kelly Cassidy will chair the Appropriations-Public Safety Committee.
We are anticipating a number of bills to be introduced that could impact policing in Chicago. Our efforts to work for pos- itive improvements will continue, and we will remain vigilant about efforts that are not helpful.

As we have reviewed before, the Democrats will have supermajorities in both the House and Sen- ate. The Legislature will be in session for most weeks from now through May 31 — its scheduled adjournment date, as well as the date by which the new governor has pledged to have a bud-
get passed.
Members of the Legislature who represent the City of Chi-
cago and are now in leadership in the House, in addition to Speaker Michael Madigan, are: Majority Leader Greg Harris, Art Turner and Kelly Burke for the Democrats, as well as Mike McAuliffe for the Republicans. Senators who serve on President John Cullerton’s leadership team and also represent part of the City of Chicago are: Majority Leader Kim Lightford, Don Har- mon, Tony Munoz, Marty Sandoval, Iris Martinez, Mattie Hunt- er and Jackie Collins.
In the Senate, the chair of the Judiciary Committee will be John Mulroe, the chair of the Criminal Law Committee will be
