 ALCOHOL INK
  BUBBLE DESIGN
I call it this because there appears to be a colorful, small bubble design when finished.
STEP 1: Cut out a piece of felt and attach to the applica- tor stamp.
STEP 2: Wet tile with a light coat of Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution using 3⁄4" wash brush. Make sure the entire surface is covered. You do not need to paint on the surface while wet – the Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution reactivates when the ink is placed on top. STEP 3: Dot over the surface of the felt, leaving space be- tween colors, with Raspberry, Sailboat Blue, and Sunshine Yellow. Make these small dots – you do not need a lot of ink. STEP 4: Stamp over the surface randomly, turning the applicator stamp in different directions. You will see that immediately the ink begins to flow over the surface. If it doesn’t, put a bit more ink on your applicator stamp (Tile 1).
STEP 5: Let it dry for a moment, then re-stamp. The ink will mix with the first layer and create another random pattern (Tile 2).
STEP 6: Repeat steps four and five.
STEP 7: If you re-stamp when the previous layer is still wet, the colors start to run together. There’s nothing wrong with that – you will just have a different texture!
STEP 8: Every time you re-stamp, ink will be laid down. As it dries a bit on the applicator stamp, you begin to cre- ate smaller patterns – and some threads of felt will stick, creating more texture.
STEP 9: If nothing seems to be happening put a little more ink on the applicator – NOT a lot! If you should dot Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution on the felt it will move the paint when stamped, but it will also remove it, and that may not be the look you are going for (lots of white dots).
STEP 10: Repeat until you are happy with the design. Experiment and have fun (Tile 3)!
STEP 11: If you purchased several packages of three inks it is fun to do a tile using those colors in the package – some wonderful color combinations make for great design!
RANDOM FLOW DESIGN
STEP 1: Cut out a piece of felt and attach to the applica- tor stamp.
STEP 2: Wet tile with a light coat of Tim Holtz Adiron- dack Alcohol Blending Solution using 3⁄4" wash brush. Make sure the entire surface is covered. You do not need to paint on the surface while wet – the Tim Holtz Adiron- dack Alcohol Blending Solution reactivates when the ink is placed on top.
STEP 3: Place random drops of Sunshine Yellow, Rasp- berry, Purple Twilight, Sailboat Blue and one or two drops of Indigo (a very strong color – a little goes a long way) over the surface of the tile (Map A). They do not need to be exactly as the Map indicates – just in the general area (Tile 1).
STEP 4: As the inks meet, other colors are created – you want this! Keep applying small drips until you are happy with the color combinations. While still wet you can pick up the tile and tilt it in various directions to create inter- esting flow patterns and color combinations (Tile 2). Be aware that as the ink starts to dry it creates a darker wall around the color. The more ink you put in the same space the darker the wall becomes.
STEP 5: Continue to add small drips from the bottles, tilt- ing as you like until you are happy with the design.
STEP 6: Add a few dots of ink on the applicator stamp. You may add only one or a couple.
STEP 7: Stamp the corners, keeping the center free of the bubbles that appear. If you used a lot of ink on the applica- tor the bubbles will appear large. If you don’t like that, wait until the ink on the applicator is dryer and re-stamp – it will make the bubbles smaller.
STEP 8: Continue stamping until you like the effect. Don’t overdo. If desired, add another drop of Sunshine Yellow in the center to create a more interesting pattern (Tile 3).
SPLASH DESIGN
Create a wall around your tile and painting area by constructing a three-sided barrier with a deconstructed box or cutting down a science fair backboard (12" or 30.48 cm high). This keeps the ink from spraying all over your table when using the Dust-Off Electronics Duster.
STEP 1: Do not apply Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Blending Solution to tile 1. This technique is more about controlling the flow of ink. Compressed gas being used with blending solution will cause the ink to flow too quick- ly over the edge of the tile; with multiple colors placed on top you will lose the whole design.
STEP 2: Cut out a piece of felt and attach to the applica- tor stamp.
STEP 3: Dot Sailboat Blue, Indigo, Mermaid, and Citrus randomly over the felt. Go very light on the Indigo, other- wise it will take over all the other colors.
STEP 4: Stamp around the tile leaving the middle open. Stamp at least a couple of times to create the pattern, let- ting it dry a little between stampings (Tile 1).
STEP 5: Pour Raspberry into a cup. Have the can of Dust- Off Electronics Duster ready (with the spout attached). STEP 6: Using a liner brush, dip into the cup and place a few dots/lines of Raspberry around the edge of the white
