Ihave been designing lighthouse scenes since my first book, Sea Sampler, came out in 1995, but I feel as though I have had a connection with lighthouses since my confir-
mation in 1972. Items on which my confirmation verse is printed usually feature a lighthouse image. “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). In May 2003, my husband, Steve, and I were married at a lighthouse in Michigan, using this verse in our ceremony.
PREPARATION
Be sure to extend the design and paint to all four edges of the canvas. Please note that the design does not include the trees that appear on the edges of the canvas.
Using the 3⁄4" glaze wash brush, basecoat the entire canvas with an opaque layer of Grey Sky. Let dry, then transfer the horizon line to the canvas.
