President’s lette
Dear SDP Friends:
My term as president of this great
organization has come to an end. I
am fortunate to belong to this solid community, rich in history where meaningful friendships have been made, ideas have been exchanged, and the love and appreciation for decorative painting is always shared.
The future of SDP is very bright. We’ve begun to embrace technology
to expand our network and improve operations. Our online Facebook community has surpassed 30,000 likes and is continuing to grow each day. Our Facebook page allows us to stay connected, share updates and celebrate the accomplishments of SDP, chapters
and individual members. I encourage each of you to share our posts and comment on the topics that interest you. When we share the information, it allows potential new members to see the rewards and personal joy that comes from joining our SDP.
We have to continue to stay relevant in such a fast-paced technology-driven world. This year, the SDP Conference & Expo registration system was modified to offer immediate ticket confirmations and payment receipts. I have heard from many of you how much you appreciated having your classes confirmed immediately. In the coming months, we will be taking a closer look at the SDP website and updating it to make it easier for members to use. Our website is the first representation of our identity and we must make sure it accurately reflects our vibrant and creative Society.
This has been a great year of transition for SDP. We experience some difficulties, but took great strides towards tomorrow. Our new partnership with CHA offers SDP a bright future; we will continue with the building that has begun. Each of you is part of that. I appreciate the support I have received from the board, the staff and members this past year.
As I stated in my first letter, we must all continue to work together to make SDP thrive. Henry Ford once said “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” It has been my pleasure serving you.
Paint with a happy heart!
Pat Marler
President, Society of Decorative Painters
