Page 102 - The Decorative Painter Fall 2014
P. 102

This piece is a study in transparency and reflective light. It is festive, yet elegant, and can be placed in a special room to create a warm and peaceful atmosphere for friends
and family.
PREPARATION
Apply all-purpose sealer to the entire surface, and then allow to dry completely. Gently sand the surface, and then remove sanding debris.
Apply two basecoats to the entire surface (including the frame) using a large flat brush with Raw Sienna; let this dry between coats. While the second basecoat is wet, roll a small sponge roller in random directions over the surface. This technique will give the piece an eggshell texture.
