C reating festive holiday décor from a wooden salt shaker and peppermill set is fun and simple. Mixing different patterns and alternating cheerful colors lend interest to the pieces, and a feeling of joy to your holi-
day table.
PREPARATION
Take the finial off of the top of the peppermill, and then remove the round wooden piece at the mill’s top. Spray the finial and all wooden surfaces of the saltshaker and the pep- permill with several light coats of Krylon Colormaster Primer, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
When both are completely dry, lightly sand the wooden surfaces, removing sanding debris with a tack cloth. Using Warm White on the 1" wash, basecoat all pieces until they have an opaque appearance. When this is dry, sand the pieces lightly if necessary, removing sanding debris. To protect the basecoat, spray all pieces with Krylon Workable Fixatif. This will also make any mistakes easier to remove.
The gingerbread patterns will be applied later.
