pen and ink, a technique I’ve been practicing over fifty years, is a quick and easy way to cre- iful autumn art. This pattern can be created on
any size plate; simply adjust the pattern to fit the plate you choose. The plate featured in this project has a gradual slant, so I was able to let the design creep up the slant on both the right and left sides. If you have chosen a rimmed plate, adjust the acorn design to suit your surface.
PREPARATION
This plate is very smooth and will need little sanding. If you choose to sand the plate, remove sanding debris with a tack cloth.
Cut the Hydra Sponge into fourths. Moisten the sponge and wring out excess water. Dip the sponge into Antique White, and then apply a very smooth, even layer to the front of the plate, working with the direction of the wood’s grain. Allow a bit of the wood grain to show through, if desired.
Apply the points that accompany the Dry-It Board, fol- lowing the manufacturer’s instructions. These small points
