    LET’S PAINT
STAGE ONE
NEGATIVE BACKGROUND
Mix large amounts of Transparent Yellow+tch French Ul- tramarine to achieve a light, bright green. Mix a large amount of New Gamboge+French Ultramarine to achieve a medium blue-green.
Starting at the bottom right of the paper and using a 1" flat, wet the paper up and around any flower, leaf, or stem shapes. Use clean water, taking the water several inches past the center right side. Stop and evaluate the water on the paper. You should have an even, uniform shine with no puddles. If the paper looks dry or has any dry areas, rewet the entire area evenly before continuing.
Apply a light green wash and add touches of the medium blue-green wash. Allow to dry. Continue with the next section, remembering to overlap the previously painted area with clear water. Paint as before—drying each area before moving on to the next. Allow the entire surface to dry thoroughly.
