MDF Window Plaque, #20-11457,
may be purchased at Viking Woodcrafts, www.vikingwoodcrafts.com.
Leafing supplies: Mona Lisa Products from Speedball, Blue/Bleu/Azul Leaf, no. 18210. They also have adhesive, etc. Try fine art stores in your area or order from www.speedballart.com.
Buff off all loose leaf with a small square of velvet using small circular motions.
Patch any really large skips that offend you and dry thor- oughly overnight. Re-buff patches.
Once all loose gold leaf has been buffed away, apply the gold from the Krylon pen in all the concave routed channels. I find elevating the frame’s surface to the top of my Painter’s Pal, I can firmly rest the back outside heel of my hand against the table surface. I can then pull the gold pen’s nib along the channels while minimizing the nib jumping out of the track. To repair any “oops!” happenings, sand away any excess with a small nail file, then use a small brush or liner with the back- ground Midnite Green from the original bottle so it won’t show. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Apply gold leaf sealer to the gold leafed areas. Dry for at least two hours.
Varnish the entire frame on all sides. I like to do 2-3 coats of varnish. This is a must to protect the leaf and gold, as well as the acrylic surfaces.
