Last year, during the pandemic, I came across some charcoal that I had painted about 20 years before. I looked at them and decided that, after so long, I would paint them again but with natural dyes.
The natural inks gave them a fresh look using the watercolor technique. They made me connect with nature and let me be carried away by the result, which is often unexpected.
Originally there were two landscapes, but when painting last year, I decided to add a third one.
Looking at them ... where would you like to be?
I invite you to know the story in my IG @atelierybienestar.
PREPARATION
TEA INK:
Measure 1 cup of water and add four teabags or one (1) tablespoon tea strands. Boil 20 to 25 minutes to reduce to get a concentrated ink. Strain the tea. While still hot, add 1/2 tablespoon salt and stir.
IMPORTANT: Any natural dye you make, consider the following proportion: Every 100ml (4oz / 0.25lb / 1/2 cup) of ink, add 10gr (1/2 tablespoon) of salt.
Advice: If you refrigerate your ink it will last longer. COFFEE INK:
Measure 1 cup of instant coffee grounds. Mix with water, boil and reduce to the thickness shown in the photo below.
When cool, add three (3) spoons of honey and stir.
Advice: You can prepare half the quantity indicated in this recipe and you will get enough to paint a lot of art!
