 48 The Decorative Painter • ISSUE NO. 4, 2016
Who doesn’t love lemons in the summertime? This piece was inspired by botanical prints and vintage fruit crate labels. This design can easily be applied to wine glasses and perhaps a pitcher to create a
beautiful set. Some artists feel that painting on glass can be intimidating, but once you get the hang of it and are armed with the right tips and shortcuts, you’ll be amazed at the gorgeous pieces you can create.
PREPARATION
First wipe the jar with rubbing alcohol and a paper tow- el to remove dust, oil and fingerprints.
Cut your pattern so that it fits nice and centered inside the jar, keeping the pattern away from any raised writing on the jar. Tape it in place, and lightly draw the pattern on the outside of the glass with the Caran d’Ache Neocolor II White Wax Pastel Crayon. This crayon is great for glass because anything you see when you’re done wipes off clean after you finish painting.
