                                                                                                     OIL
Final highlights and shadows are refined when com- pletely painted. On the pink areas use Alizarin Crimson Permanent and wOil Gel Medium for a transparent effect. On the peach areas use Cadmium Orange Hue+Cadmium Yellow Light Hue (1:1) and wOil Gel Medium. Refer to the photo on page 54 for any further darkening.
WATER DROPS
Refer to Step-by-Step on page 55.
Water drops on your project give a sparkle when painted correctly. Follow the steps below for creating realistic drops. STEP 1: Highlight the drop into the shape you need with White Permanent. The drop shape is determined by the object upon which it rests or is dripping from. The light source will direct where you place lights and darks. Refer to the Step by Step on page 55 to see a left light source. STEP 2: Paint a cast shadow directly next to the high- light and outside of the drop. The color value of the cast shadow should be two values darker than the area where they are painted.
STEP 3: Shading is then painted inside the drop and com- pletes the shape of the drop.
STEP 4: Final sparks of light are placed in the center of the first highlight and also directly opposite onto the cast shadow side of the drop.
BACKGROUND
Using no. 6 shader and Green Mixes, slip-slap values around pansy. Pick up darks and lights to create the illu- sion of leafy background. Add stronger values of pink to indicate buds or other pansies sitting behind.
FINISHING
Sign and date your artwork. Varnish may be applied when completely dry, which may take a few weeks.
Thank you for painting this project with me. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have sharing it with you.
