TIDEWATER DECORATIVE PAINTERS CONDUCT PAINT-IN
Tidewater Decorative Painters, under
the leadership of its president, Carolyn Neal, conducted a paint-in entitled “Paint Like a Pro” for the Junior Woman’s Club of Hilton
in Newport News, Va. Carolyn designed and taught a winter landscape featuring the Hilton Pier along the James River. The paint-in is a fundraiser for the Junior Woman’s Club to help various charities. The participant fees paid to the Chapter helps to fund various Chapter community service projects such
as memory boxes for the neonatal unit at a local hospital, workshops for
patients in the outpatient unit
of the VA Hospital, and canvas
bags and memory boxes for
children in the local foster care
program. The participants did an
outstanding job and we are very
proud of their efforts.

completed projects and Carolyn Neal, president of Tidewater Decorative Painters, as she was teaching her original design.
CHAPTER DONATES TIME TO HELP YOUNG FEMALE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC SEX TRAFFICKING
The members of the Citrus Ridge Decorative Artists recently teamed up with the Lake Wales Breakfast Rotary to provide tote bags filled with necessary items for young girls who are being rescued from human trafficking in the local area through a program called Porch Light, founded by The Florida Baptist Children’s Home.
The members of the Chapter hand-painted more than 25 tote bags and bought toiletry items for the bags. The Rotary donated $100, which enabled the Chapter to purchase underwear for quite a few girls.
When these girls come to Porch Light, they only have the clothes on their backs and nothing else.
Porch Light is bringing healing and hope to child victims of domestic sex trafficking. Florida has the third highest number of reported sex trafficking cases according to the National Human Trafficking Hotline (behind California and Texas). In 2014, Porch Light opened a safe home where innocent child victims can find emotional and physical healing.
It was our honor to do this for these young girls and we plan to continue to provide support to them in the future.
We are excited about the wonderful happenings of our SDP chapters.
