The SDP membership through the years grew from
22 members in 1972 to 33,000 in 1996 and is currently experiencing growth with a record percentage of returning members as well as new. We have a goal to increase membership to 33,000. This can happen in three years
if every member brings new person painter to SDP once
a year. Decorative painting has become wildly popular in a number of countries worldwide – proving that art speaks to everyone, everywhere.
The artwork at the International Museum of the Society of Decorative Painters (IMSDP) includes fabulous pieces and styles from members in Canada. A few of those members are being featured. If you’re a member of the Facebook group, SDP: An Artful Connection, you’ll be able to share your artwork and the projects that you’re currently working on and what is going on in your part of the world. What an exciting opportunity! Let us know if you’re teaching a project featured in The Decorative Painter.

In 2007 Pat received an invitation to contribute a painting for a touring exhibit sponsored by Craft and Paint Ange in Japan. The exhibit would tour throughout Japan for one year then become part of the permanent collection at IMSDP in Wichita, Kan. Pat’s painting was designed to represent the classical style of seventeenth to nineteenth century art. Pat selected the subject matter and props, and the designing, drawing and painting began.
