President’s Letter
Dear fellow SDP members,
Happy 2017! I hope your year is off to a great start.
In my last letter, I wrote about our commitment to growing membership this year. The first thing on our agenda was
to provide chapters with resources they need to recruit and retain members in
their local communities On February 1,
we announced the Chapter Tool Kit last month, which is available on the Chapters page of our website and includes marketing templates, chapter contacts and suggestions for where and how to hold events. We will be communicating with chapter leaders regularly throughout the year on how they
can utilize these new tools. We intend to add to this tool kit as we acquire new tools. If you have suggestions for tools we can provide to help you grow, please contact our staff and let us know.
What goals are you committed to in 2017? Whether they’re painting-related or not, use your membership to stay on track. Use our member discounts to stick to your budget. Go outside your comfort zone by taking a new class or attending one of our social events at Oceans of Color, our 45th Annual SDP International Conference & Expo, in Daytona Beach, Florida in May. I have a friend who has several unfinished projects; she’s resolved to complete one of these unfinished projects each month this year – and I’m going to help her make sure she does.
In this issue of The Decorative Painter, you’ll find nominees for
the 2017-2018 Board of Directors, who will be elected into office at our Annual Meeting in May; a new section written by our Business Committee; 11 new painting projects; and a brochure about special events taking place at Oceans of Color. Keep your goals in mind and try to find some inspiration to do the things you’re looking to achieve.
