Lap desk (item #20-10242) is available at vikingwoodcrafts.com.
This desk, from the casual lettering to the whimsical trompe l’oeil, was inspired by the work of Peter Hunt, who is known as one of the Fathers of American Deco- rative Painting.
I have found that when I sketch, the ideas just start flowing. This piece was designed to help encourage the creative process. Keep it in a convenient spot, filled with sharp pencils and a small sketch book and see what happens. I believe, like the quote says, inspiration will find you!
PAINTER’S TIPS
I like to use two small palettes: one for tube colors and one for a complete palette. The complete palette is laid out in order. For example, Light Yellow next to Me- dium Yellow next to Dark Yellow. I lay out my entire pal- ette this way before I begin my project, making sure to mix plenty of each color. This way the complete palette is available for the entire painting process. If you need to mix more of any one color, your tube colors are easily accessible. If kept moist, a wet palette will stay fresh and workable for 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer.
