Step 7: Apply Blue Thunder and Zia Teal in vertical stripes with the flat brush over the Mahogany-stained wood. Be sloppy and apply liberally. Don’t be afraid to let some of the Mahogany color peek through. The vertical stripes do not have to be perfectly straight.
Step 8: Before completely dry, mist with water lightly to make the colors “melt.”
Step 9: Mix 2 parts Zeus to 1 part water in a small spray bottle.
Step 10: Spray Zeus on wine box here and there, concentrating on the upper portion of the piece with a lighter mist on the lower portion of the box.
Step 11: Mist lightly with water to expose more Mahogany if you wish.
Step 12: Apply Zeus to bare fingertips and flick small amounts of it to splatter on the box, concentrating on top and very little on bottom. If flicks turn out too big, mist lightly with water.
Step 13: Allow to dry overnight.
Step 14: Mix 2 parts Athena to 1 part Black to make 1 oz. Mix in 3 spoonfuls of PiNCHiE Powder. Allow to develop for 20 minutes.
Step 15: Lightly apply IkonArt Stencil or any preferred stencil anywhere on the box. Apply a small amount of the developed PiNCHiE Powder with a scraper over the top of the stencil. It should sound like a scratched record. Cover the area of the stencil being careful not to go out of the area of the stencil.
Note: Alternative to the stencil, you can use any project pattern from your favorite artist to decorate the box.
Step 16: Peel off stencil and repeat
in other areas if desired. Depending on preference, use sanding block and sand the stencil lightly to make a distressed look. Do not sand if you want a bright image.
Step 17: Using Zeus, splatter a bit more here and there over and around the finished stencils.
Step 18: Seal with ARTiSTiC ViVATiONS Sealing Salve by buffing a light amount on with wax brush. The finish will be chalky when dry, letting you know it’s ready to be sealed. Once
