Marrying older women
DO SOOTHILL MEN MARRY OLDER WOMEN?

It certainly occurs perhaps more frequently than I expected. There are several current cases of Soothill men marrying older women, but I have avoided naming names as they may not wish such basic facts to be wisely known. However, the largest discrepancy at the moment is fifteen years. There are many earlier instances. I suspect that it happened just as or perhaps more frequently in the nineteenth century. Often it was a man on his second marriage, perhaps recently widowed with young children to deal with. An experienced woman could be the answer?
