Support
It is worth establishing a peer-to-peer group for facilitators, either informally or formally. This is a useful way of gaining support as a facilitator. The benefits gained from being involved in a professional peer-to-peer group are:
z tapping into knowledge and expertise of other rural facilitators
z developing a sounding board for your facilitation practice z building your network.
Professional development opportunities are often available through the professional associations such as Australasia-Pacific Extension Network (APEN) and Australasian Facilitators Network (AFN).
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is currently providing online training for facilitators of peer-to-peer groups. This training consists of two modules. The first module ‘How to facilitate Learning’ is drawn from the RMPP Lead Facilitator Workshop. Module 2 provides practical tips and processes to plan effective peer-to-peer programs.
