swamp, so my grandfather and mom started planning their next trip. Unfortunately, their plans were postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19.
After a year of waiting, on August 31, Roy and his wife, Judy Holmes, landed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with their daughter, Kelly Hansford, and their son-in- law, Donald Hansford. The group drove into the small town Pierre Part on opening day of alligator season.
“Several situations arose that could have easily caused the trip to be cancelled,” noted Roy. “The main obstacles were related to hurricane Ida that went through the area one day earlier.”
Kelly Hansford says that age is no hindrance for her father, Roy Homes, who would brave a hurricane to hunt alligators.
