The Davis brothers won the Georgia Bass State Championship at Lake Eufaula, Alabama.

First, they won the Georgia Bass State Championship at Lake Eufaula, Alabama. Then at Lake Chickamauga in Tennessee, the Davis’s competed against over 300 other pairs from around the country. Throughout those days, each duo spent nearly eight hours on their boat, fishing for bass and weighing their catches.
To stay in the lead, the team needed to have the heaviest cumulative weight of their three fish at the end of each day.
The Oconee pair finished the tournament tying for 41st place with a team from Auburn, Alabama.
“We missed a couple big fish that would’ve put us higher— maybe top ten, maybe even top five,” Luke Davis said. “But that’s just part of it. It’s called fishing, not catching.”
The tournament was broadcast on ESPN to help grow the sport even more nationally.
“It wasn’t just any other tournament. It was high stakes, high competitiveness,” Luke Davis said. “It shows you what it’s like to fish at a higher level.”
This year’s Bassmaster High School Championship was the first time the Davis brothers attended. This semester,
Sam and Luke Davis will begin their competitions with Georgia Bass Nation.
