Farmers continue family legacy

Red Dirt Road Farm, just up the hill from the Elder Mill Covered Bridge, may have only been established three years ago, but the ancestors of the owners have been farming the land for more than 200 years. Tedd Vaughan’s great grandfather, Joe Elder, was the last operator of Elder Mill.
Now, Tedd and his wife, Bonnie, along with their son, Ryan, and daughter-in-law, Rachel, produce a wide variety of flowers,
vegetables, poultry products and berries that are sold to local families and businesses.
Before Bonnie’s retirement as a postmaster, she decided to pursue her lifelong passion for gardening and agriculture on a portion of their family land. Her father, Curtis Corbin Jr., worked for the University of Georgia developing curricula and training for fellow agricultural educators. He later held the positions of
