OBITUARY
Whereas God, in His infinite wisdom and love, called Willie D. Warren Jr. (lovingly known as Bro Pete) from our midst on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Bro was the third of five children born to the late Willie D. and Zula Lee Warren in Ozark, AL on December 6, 1950.
At an early age, Bro joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful and dedicated member; serving in various capacities including usher, trustee, and treasurer. In addition to serving his church, Bro was an ardent worker. A 1969 graduate of D. A. Smith High School, Bro worked as a lifeguard at the USO and an accountant at the NCO Club in Fort Rucker. A decorated veteran, perhaps Bro’s proudest accomplishment was serving his country. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and received the following accolades: National Defense Service Medal for serving honorably during national conflict, 1975 Marine of the Quarter, Good Conduct Medal W/5, Certificate of Commendation, Meritorious Mast, 6 Letters of Appreciation, Certificate of Appreciation, Navy Unity Commendation W/1, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon W/2, Navy Achievement Medal W/1, Southeast Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Pistol Marksmanship Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. His career took him to Okinawa Japan; 29 Palms, CA; Camp Pendleton, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Paris Island, SC; Panama Canal; and Quantico, VA. He also served in Operation Desert Storm and the Persian Gulf.
