OBITUARY hereas God in His infinite wisdom and love called Willie D. Warren Jr. (lovingly known as Bro Pete) from our midst on Sunday, November 9, 2014. Bro was the third W of five children born to the late Willie D. and Zula Lee Warren in Ozark, AL on December 6, 1950. At an early age, Bro joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful and dedicated member; serving in various capacities including usher, trustee, and treasurer. In addition to serving his church, Bro was an ardent worker. A 1969 graduate of D. A. Smith High School, Bro worked as a lifeguard at the USO and an accountant at the NCO Club in Fort Rucker. A decorated veteran, perhaps Bro’s proudest accomplishment was serving his country. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and received the following accolades: National Defense Service Medal for serving honorably during national conflict, 1975 Marine of the Quarter, Good Conduct Medal W/5, Certificate of Commendation, Meritorious Mast, 6 Letters of Appreciation, Certificate of Appreciation, Navy Unity Commendation W/1, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon W/2, Navy Achievement Medal W/1, Southeast Asia Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Pistol Marksmanship Badge, and Good Conduct Medal. He also served in Operation Desert Storm and the Persian Gulf. After retiring from the USMC with full military honors, Bro returned to Ozark where he met the love of his life, Elaine Warren with whom he joined in holy matrimony on May 1, 2007. Elaine and Bro were a dedicated couple, tending to each other’s needs until God called him home. In addition to his parents, Bro was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria Lee Warren and father- in-law, Ben Johnson.
